Students who are identified with particular strengths and would benefit from an extension program are provided with opportunities to work with the extension teacher in a specific Xtra program. Cosmic Cluster camps and Special Theme days are also available for students with specific skills.
Students in need of extra help have the opportunity to work individually or in small groups with the Learning Support Teachers and Lutheran Support Officers.. Our Learning Support Teachers design and implement Individual Learning Plans and EXTRA-Pathways programs for students with special needs.
TLS also runs a L.A.P. Program. Parents, grandparents or volunteers are asked to help for a half hour each week to work with a student. Students are selected or nominated for this program for a whole range of reasons with an extra one to one “friend” helping many a child.
“Buddy” System and Cross Age Mentoring
One of the nice things about a school of our size is that the school is a family. The staff, students and parents get to know each other. More formal “buddy” groupings are also organized between upper primary students and junior primary students. Faith Lutheran College students also partner up with the Junior Primary classes as part of their “Christian Living” program.
Faith Lutheran College is a co-educational ELC to Year 12 college located in Tanunda, in the heart of the Barossa Valley.
