Dear TLS Community,
Holidays – Time for a break!
“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14)
Holidays are here again, time for staff, parents and students to take a well-earned break and rest. A time in many households when the pace of life slows down, you actually get time to taste your breakfast, finish your coffee and catch up with family and friends.
My family and I enjoy spending quality time together whether it is bike riding, camping, gardening or going to the beach. The thing that we all enjoy the most is the relaxed atmosphere in the house. We can laze around in our PJs for as long as we like with no rushing around from one thing to the next.
Spending time with your family in holidays is one of life’s pleasures. Being with the people that love you unconditionally gives most people a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction.
God’s love is unconditional too. God even goes as far as to say “Come to me, all of you who are tired and are carrying heavy loads. I will give you rest.”(Matthew 11:28) God is even willing to carry our burdens and take the weight off our shoulders. How amazing is God!
But how often do we take time out to thank God for all the blessings that He has given us?
I found the following six verses helpful to talk with my family about how we can daily thank God and show God how thankful we are for all that He has and is willing to do for us.
‘Work at everything we do with all our heart’ (Colossians 3:23)
‘Do what we have promised.’ (Ecclesiastes 5:4)
‘Tell the truth.’ (Proverbs 12:22)
Count our Blessings (Psalm 34: 1-3)
‘Love each other deeply, from the heart,’ (1 Peter 1:22)
Have ‘a happy heart’ (Proverbs 15:13)
I encourage each of you to spend quality time, if possible, with your family during these upcoming holidays and consider also spending some time thanking God for all the good that he has and will continue to provide for each and every one of us.
Have a wonderful break,
