Dear TLS Community,
Watching the new Foundation students receive their Bibles at chapel last Friday caused me to smile, not only for their enthusiasm but, simply, they are very cute.
The scene reminded me of two stories that have been shared many times.
My daughter, upon being asked how she was liking school, having just started, answered indignantly, “They haven’t taught me to read yet!” (How remiss of the school. She’d been attending all of three days!)
And then there is the child who is surprised that they must return to school the following day, having already attended on the first day. “But I went yesterday!” Someone forgot to tell them that formal institutionalised education lasts a lot longer than one day.
How good it would be if we could know and understand everything in life and in just a short time. There are always more questions than answers. We wonder about the whys, whens, and hows of life – often forgetting that although we do not know everything, God does and we can know Him.
David, in Psalm 139:1-18, recognised that God knew it all. David says, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. . . . You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.” How comforting to know God loves us perfectly, is fully aware of what we will face today and He knows how best to help us in every circumstance of life.
We cannot know it all but knowing God is what matters most.
I am excited, that at TLS, our Foundation students will find out this important fact of life and so much more besides.
