Dear TLS Community,
I can do all this by the power of Christ. He gives me strength.
When the end of a school year approaches, I think it’s a time to celebrate all that has happened throughout that year. I like to think about the relationships that have been built, the learning that has taken place, the challenges that I have overcome and the experiences and opportunities that have presented themselves.
The end of the year can be a time of reflection. It’s a time to look back on what worked well and what didn’t. It can also be a time of mixed feelings, like being happy or feeling frustrated about areas I could have done better.
The start of the school year though is exciting. I like to think that preparing a classroom and getting ready to start fresh with a new class is a great opportunity. It’s a time where prioritising tasks and remembering to do lots of different jobs is extremely important. It can be chaotic but also refreshing at the same time. It’s a time when I get to meet new students and their families and a time that I can ‘begin again’ so to speak.
There are times when the start of school is just around the corner and it seems as though I won’t be ready in time – there’s simply too much to do. This is where I need to trust in Christ who gives me strength. I may think that I can achieve great things through my own willpower and effort, but God’s strength is a whole new level and He can get me through.
I’ve come to realise as I am getting older that everyone I see or know is more than likely struggling with something in their lives. It could be something at work, issues in the family or at home, finances or friends; it could be anything. I think that sometimes life gets so busy that we can forget that God is there to give us strength. But the good news is that He is there all the time. With his help and power, we can persist and persevere through the tough times.
