For over one and a half centuries pioneer Lutheran faith has been a feature of the Barossa landscape.
Amongst church spires and vineyards, the passion for quality education has been instilled in the hearts and minds of generations before us.
In fact, we’ve been trailblazing since 1845 when the first Barossa Lutheran School opened in Tanunda. ‘Langmeil School’ as Tanunda Lutheran School was known then, was the first step in our unending pursuit of an education which brings something extra to the ordinary.
Whilst the landscape has changed, and education has evolved, we’re still trailblazing.
Earlier this year we became the first ELC to Year 12 school in the region – welcoming our youngest three year olds and continuing to nurture, care and develop each individual as they journey through to Year 12 and the world beyond.
This year, we didn’t just welcome a new cohort to our ELC. We welcomed our graduating class of 2032.
We’re not quite sure what technology advances await us in 2032, but we do know that our graduating students will be inspired, resilient and prepared for the adventures of their world.
Acknowledging the collective wisdom of those who went before us and living out the values laid down in earlier times that are still very relevant today, is a part of what shapes our newly merged ELC to 12 school into what it is today. Across both campuses, we view education from age three to young adults as a wonderful journey deserving of a unique approach where students come first.
Our students realise that they do not have to make this journey alone. From the day they begin at ELC we are here to help them interpret their world and understand the complex interplay of social and emotional elements which shape who they are and how they belong. The wellbeing of every student, strong relationships and a welcoming community are at the heart of our educational setting.
At Faith Lutheran College we believe our students are capable citizens of the world, brimming with potential. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for them to evolve in their knowledge, competencies, attitudes, values and beliefs. We know that by striving to allow students to make mistakes, to try and to learn, they will never be left wondering about their potential in a world where their capacity to respond positively to change will be essential.
Our Early Learning Centre educators draw best theory and practice from the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the Early Years Learning Framework to nurture children’s curiosity as they begin to climb the evolving landscape of digital technologies and develop creative mindsets where growth is core.
Our Pre-Foundation class is an un-paralleled pathway into Foundation, offering a seamless transition with continuity of experiences, flexible routines and integrated learning in support of their development in their learning journey onward to Junior school.
Our Junior school provides children with the diverse learning skills and innovative opportunities tailored to prepare them for tomorrow. We foster holistic values through which children grow intellectually and in well-being to champion strong, caring hearts and minds.
Education for a changing world requires constant adjustment, the newest step forward in Faith’s quest for a relevant and engaging approach to education is our Middle School. Currently under construction at our Middle & Senior Campus, this space is designed to hold our new Year 7 cohort in 2019.
We recognise that these young individuals have the capacity to develop as ‘masters of their own learning’ through an inquiry based curriculum design. We plan to empower them, with support from teachers and parents, to design their own learning plan from within an elective program which is tailored to the diverse needs of young adolescents, that encourages them to ‘find their spark’ and prepares them for the challenges ahead.
Our departing Year 12 is an encapsulation of what we have been working toward; an individual who is truly world ready. These trailblazers are ready for the challenges ahead and enthusiastic in their willingness to engage in the world beyond school.
Let the adventure begin!
